The Beach

This is the bike path and ocean front walk at Venice Beach. The house with the red box on a post appeared in a television commercial for a flat screen TV. Further down is the famous boardwalk, more on that later. The bike path is popular with bicyclists and rollerskaters and now scooters, though strictly speaking it is meant for bicycles only. If you visit Venice please walk on the boardwalk or on the sand. You wouldn't want me or my brother crashing into you on our bikes.

Further down the bike path you come to the new skate park. It is at the point where Windward avenue ends at the boardwalk. The photo below was taken soon after it was completed.

The Boardwalk

There are many things to see along the boardwalk. The photo on the left shows some shops that are arranged around a small courtyard near the north end of the boardwalk.

At the right is a brightly painted delivery van from Big Daddy's. I don't recommend the food there, however. It's always a good Idea to check the Health Department's grade for a restaurant before you eat there. Personally I won't eat anywhere that gets a grade below "B".
